This match took place during the 2024 World Cup in India. Three South African batters scored a century, including Aiden Markam’s century, which is the fastest century by a player in the World Cup. Quinton de Kock scored 100 runs off 84 balls, Rassie Van der Dussen scored 108 runs off 110 balls, and Aiden Markam scored 106 runs off 54 balls. Other batters like Henrich Klassen, David Miller, and Marco Jansen scored some crucial runs by striking above 170.

2. Australia (417/6) vs Afghanistan

Before South Africa registered the highest score by a team in a World Cup, Australia had the highest score. They scored 417 runs at a loss of six wickets against Afghanistan. The Australian opening batsman, David Warner, smashed 178 runs in just 133 balls and got out before scoring a well-deserved double century.

Not only David Warner but also Steven Smith and Glenn Maxwell smashed the Afghani bowlers. Steven Smith scored 95 runs off 98 balls; on the other hand, Glenn Maxwell scored 88 runs off just 39 balls. Maxwell’s innings included six fours and seven sixes.

3. India (413/5) vs Bermuda

This match took place in Spain during the 2007 ODI World Cup, where India scored 413 against Bermuda. Three Indian batters scored half-centuries, and one batter scored a century, which comprised a total of 20 boundaries.

Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag batted nearly for 30 overs and had a partnership of 203 runs. Ganguly scored 89 runs, whereas Virender Sehwag scored 114 runs. Then it was Yuvraj Singh and Sachin Tendulkar who scored 83 runs and 57 runs, respectively. They both had a strike rate of more than 180 and were smashing the Bermuda bowlers for fun.

4. South Africa (411/4) vs Ireland

This match took place in the 2015 ODI World Cup in Australia, and this was the second time they scored over 400 runs in the same World Cup.

The South African opener, Hashim Amla, scored 159 runs, and their vice captain, Faf du Plessis, scored 109 runs. Well, they were striking close to 120, and after they got out, their middle-order batsman had a strike rate of more than 200. AB de Villiers scored 24 runs off just 9 balls, David Miller scored 46 runs off just 23 balls, and Rilee Rossouw scored 61 runs off just 30 balls.

This match will always be remembered as one of the best innings by South African cricketer AB de Villiers. The South African side scored 408 runs, which included one of the most destructive knocks in cricket history with 162 runs, not out off just 66 balls.
