Aston Villa have been linked with former Liverpool player Luis Suarez as his contract is expiring with Atletico Madrid this summer and Villa are looking to sign him on a free transfer. It looks like Steven Gerrard is again going to reunite with his former teammate at Villa Park. The Uruguayan will complete his career in Spain this week by playing his last game for Atletico Madrid after Diego Simeone decided not to renew him.

Suarez has gradually been on a decline this season as he has just scored 11 league goals, but he is still looked as an outstanding striker by the Villa board and Gerrard. Gerrard considers that Suarez can still score plenty of goals even at this age if he is in the right system. By scoring 21 goals last season Suarez had a major role in Atletico’s La Liga title run. His form with Barcelona was also good as he had scored 20+ goals in every season he played for the Catalan giants.
With Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins not living up to their expectations, Suarez could be the striker that Villa and Gerrard were looking which could help the team rank higher up the Premier League table. He may not be as clinical as he once was in his Liverpool and Barcelona days but with Villa having creators like Coutinho, Mcginn and Buendia in their side, it could be possible that together with them Suarez can have an excellent time in the team.
