According to widespread reports in the Italian media, Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly has been offered to Chelsea this summer in order to strengthen their backline. He is linked with a move away from Napoli every summer transfer window with the clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United interested in him over the past few years. Now he is entering the final year of his contract as his current deal with Napoli expires in 2024. So Napoli have to make a decision about whether to renew him or sell him cause if they renew him now they won’t get as much money in the future as they are getting for him now because of his age.

Koulibaly’s agent has held talks with Chelsea and the agent has quoted a 35 Million euro price for the defender. It is not exactly a bargain for a 30-year-old but Koulibaly has proven his worth over the years. He has made over 250 appearances for Napoli but he has only won 2 titles with them, it is the Italian Super Cup which he won it twice. This season was a write off for him as he was injured for most of the games, but in spite of that, he played a critical role in Senegal’s journey to win the African Cup of Nations. PSG and Newcastle are also interested to sign the defender.
The Chelsea backline has completely changed in the last few months as Andreas Christensen is on his way to Barcelona and Antonio Rudiger is joining Real Madrid which leaves Thiago Silva and a young Trevoh Chalobah to guard the defence. So it’s obvious that the London club will have to replace Christensen and Rudiger next summer and Thomas Tuchel would be provided with a huge financial boost because of their new ownership deal. All in all, Koulibaly would surely be on Tuchel’s mind to improve his defence as the Senegal man is a leader and can definitely be a rock in the Chelsea back 4.
