Chelsea to sign Koulibaly for 38 Million Euros?

Koulibaly to replace Rudiger?

According to a large number of reports in England, Chelsea football club are closing in on the signing of the Napoli Center back Kalidou Koulibaly. This is massive news for Chelsea supporters as they are in a rebuild and signing Koulibaly would be an important step in their defensive line. Having missed out on Kounde, Thomas Tuchel had set his eyes on the Senegalese defender and since then he has been pushing to sign him and now it is very likely that the Blues complete this deal in a few days. But the Premier League club has competition as Juventus and the Spanish Giants Barcelona are also interested in signing him.

Koulibaly has been constantly linked with an exit from Naples over the past few years and every year there are many teams interested to sign but when everytime they try to do that the board of Napoli says ‘No’. It’s hard to see why so many clubs are interested in him, he is one of the best and most experienced center back in the world right now as he has played more than 300 games for the Serie A side and this shows his incredible fitness too. But apart from all his good qualities, he has just 1 year remaining on his Napoli contract and with no renewal in the future, it now seems that the Board of Napoli have given the green light to sell their star defender and get some reasonable cash on him instead of letting him leave for free next year.

It is expected that Chelsea would make a 38 million Euros bid for the defender and it is reported that they have offered Koulibaly an astronomical amount 300,000 Euros per week as his wages across a 5 year deal if he signs for the Premier League side. Having lost both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen to Real Madrid and FC Barcelona respectively, the signing of Koulibaly seems a great step for Tuchel in order to build his defence. However, Chelsea are still trying to sign Manchester City’s Nathan Ake to strengthen their backline too and it would be interesting to see how this transfer window goes for the Blues.
