Chelsea are heavily linked with the Spanish centre back Pau Torres for a move this summer to the London club. This news is also backed by many English media journalists. Torres has been linked with a move away from Villarreal many times over the past few years. Last year Manchester United and Real Madrid were battling to sign him but a deal could not be agreed with Villarreal. So then Torres stayed with Villarreal and he had an outstanding season with them as they reached the Champions League semi finals, defeating the likes of Juventus and Bayern Munich on their run.

According to widespread reports, it is believed that Villarreal would need to inject some funds in their club this summer if they miss out on European football next season. This has opened the idea of selling Torres this transfer window who has a release clause of 55 Million euros in his contract. So other clubs might take advantage of Villarreal’s finances and may offer 40-45 Million euros and get him on a bargain.
However except for Chelsea, Manchester United are looking to make plans to submit an offer for the defender and Spurs are also looking to sign a top centre back this transfer window. So this might break into a major bidding war between these clubs and it will be interesting to see which club will get the cash to sign Torres.
