Marc Cucurella’s Career So Far
Marc Cucurella started his career at the youth systems of RCD Espanyol and FC Barcelona, and made his first team debut for the latter in the Copa del Rey as a late substitute.
He was loaned to La Liga side SD Eibar shortly after his debut, with a €2 million buyout option. Due to his impressive performances at Los Armeros, his buyout clause was triggered, only for him to be loaned out again to rivals Getafe CF, with an option to buy for €6 million and 40 percent of the rights remaining to his parent club Barcelona..
The Spanish player gained notoriety at Getafe, where he had a standout season while on loan with the Azulones, appearing in 37 league games for the Spanish team. Getafe was persuaded by this to exercise his €6 million buyout option. Later on, he played for the Deep Blue Ones in 85 games and scored 4 goals.
His performances at the Azulones began to pique the interest of other European clubs. As a result, he signed a five-year contract with the English club Brighton and Hove Albion. He was named the Players’ Player of the Season and voted the Player of the Season in his first season with the Seagulls.
