According to various reports, it looks like Manchester City have to sell their star midfielder Ikay Gundogan this summer and it is believed that he could be on his way to Serie A. The German is heading into the final year of his deal with City and talk of a possible new contract from both the player and the club seems minimal and it is widely reported that there hasn’t been any progress regarding it. Hence now Gundogan is looking at a potential transfer.

City have already added Kalvin Phillips to their stacked midfield which means that the competition for a starting spot in Pep’s side is harder than ever. Gundogan though has been a regular player in the starting 11 over the past few years and he has played more than 25 games in every single season since 2016-17. However, now that only a year is remaining on his contract and definitely a renewal is not in sight between the two parties, City may look to cash in on the midfielder in order to avoid letting him leave for a free next year. He is currently valued at 25 Million Euros and this is a sum that Juventus would be willing to pay.
But if indeed, the German departs from the Etihad, City have considered Sporting Lisbon’s Matheus Nunes as his replacement and this news has been backed by various media outlets in Portugal. The Portuguese player has been linked with a move to Chelsea too but anyone who does decide to sign him will have to pay his current club around 45 Million Euros in order to complete the transfer. So all in all, it would be interesting to see how this transfer saga develops.
