According to the Spanish media, Barcelona are trying every possible way in the book to sell Martin Braithwaite this summer but the Danish International sees himself fulfilling his contract which runs until 2024. Braithwaite was never considered a long-term solution to Barcelona’s attack cause when he was signed in the 2019-20 season from Leganes, he was termed as an ’emergency singing’ because during that season most of Barcelona’s players were injured. So La Liga allowed them to make a new signing despite the transfer window being closed.

He was signed for 18 Million Euros and was given a massive 4.5-year deal with astronomical wages of around 100,000 Euros per week, and this deal clearly indicates the mismanagement of the previous board. So now the striker is happy to see out his contract because of the wages that he is getting every week as he knows that he can’t get this sort of deal anywhere else. But last season Braithwaite scored 2 goals in the first 2 games for the Spanish side which suggested that he might have a major role in the campaign but a serious knee injury ruled him out until January. When he returned Xavi was in charge and Ferran Torres and Aubameyang joined the club which resulted in him being on the bench for most of the matches.
Now that clearly the striker is out of Xavi’s plan, Barcelona are trying to sell him by possibly doing everything. But they may still keep the Danish player if he and the board can agree on a salary reduction. The Spanish side could really take advantage of the World Cup cause Braithwaite has said many times that he wants to play the tournament and in order to do that he must have minutes. So Barcelona could tell him that either he reduces his salary or find a new club because if doesn’t agree to that he will be on the bench throughout the season and might miss the World Cup too.
