Yashasvi Jaiswal has replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad as a backup player in the World Test Championship Final squad. Ruturaj will be unable to travel to the UK for the match as he is getting married on June 2-3. Ruturaj was one of the three backup players for the ICC final. Suryakumar Yadav and Mukesh Kumar will travel to London as backup players.
On Sunday morning, Jaiswal practised with the red ball at Bombay Gymkhana with Zubin Barucha. Zubin Bharucha is a director of High Performance at the Rajasthan Royals. Jaiswal already holds a UK visa. So, the 21-year-old will fly to London tonight.
Yashavi Jaiswal’s Recent Form
Jaiswal was in fiery form for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024. He scored 625 runs in 14 matches at an average of 48.07, with one hundred and 5 fifties. The young south-paw also has 1845 runs in 15 first-class matches at a high average of 80.21. He has scored 9 centuries and 2 half-centuries in red-ball cricket.
In the past, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been part of the India A Test team. He has travelled to Bangladesh for the unofficial Test series against Bangladesh ‘A’ team. India will take on Australia in the WTC final from June 7 to 11 at The Oval.

The first batch of seven players has reached London. These seven players are Virat Kohli, Mohammad Siraj, R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur. Many of the Indian players are yet to reach England due to the IPL. Shubman Gill, Ajinkya Rahane and KS Bharat will leave for England after the IPL 2024 final.
