Bangladesh have announced a T20I squad for the two-match series against Afghanistan. Bangladesh have brought back Afif Hossain and Ebadot Hossain into their T20I squad. There was no place for wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali who was in the squad for the Ireland series in March.
Afif last played T20Is against England in March. In 62 T20Is, he has scored 1020 runs at a strike rate of 120.28. He was also named in the ODI squad for the series against Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Ebadot wasn’t in the T20I side against England or Ireland. Ebadot last played in the T20 World Cup in November last year. He made his debut in this format during the Asia Cup in 2022. He has seven wickets in four T20Is. Earlier this week, he took 4-47 in the one-off Test against Afghanistan.
Following this series, Bangladesh’s next scheduled T20Is are against New Zealand in December this year. The T20Is against Afghanistan will be played in Sylhet on July 14 and 16 following the three ODIs. Bangladesh last played a T20 match at home in July 2015 against South Africa.
Earlier, Afghanistan announced a squad for ODIs against Bangladesh. Star spinner Rashid Khan has made his return to the side after being rested for the one-off Test against Bangladesh. Bangladesh will host Afghanistan for a three-match ODI series from July 5 onwards. Afghanistan’s tour of Bangladesh began with a one-off Test, which was won by a massive margin of 546 runs by the hosts.
