Renowned actor-comedian Stephen Fry will be taking charge as the MCC President in October 2022. Fry has been a big cricket supporter. Moreover, he is an MCC Foundation patron. Last year, Fry delivered an illustrious 20th MCC Cowdrey Lecture. It was a very remarkable address from him. He became only the second non-cricketing personality to do so. Moreover, Stephen Fry has been associated with MCC since 2011. In addition to being an actor, he is a screenwriter, author, journalist, poet, playwright, and film director. he has been working closely with a mental health charity, Minds.
Stephen Fry to be the next MCC President
Former Cricketer was appointed as the MCC President in June 2020. However, she could not assume office until October 2021. Clare is the first woman to be the MCC President in the club’s 233 years of history. Moreover, her term will end in October 2021. Therefore, she has nominated Stephen Fry as a successor.

The Cowdrey Lecture he delivered last year was inspiring and showed the extent to which he understands the challenges and opportunities that both MCC and cricket face. He will bring a wealth of experience to the role and I hope he thoroughly enjoys his year.”

Stephen Fry has been a part of the MCC since 2011. His appointment was ratified at the Annual General Meeting of Marylebone Cricket Club. The meeting was held at the Lord’s on Wednesday. The meeting was held in a hybrid mode for the first time in the club’s history. Stephen Fry thanked Clare for nominating him for the post.
