Euro 2024 – Which Premier League Stars Will Dominate the Group Stages?

The European Cup is getting closer. In just a few months, we will be able to watch our favorite players from Europe compete for this prestigious title.

There are no significant surprises when it comes to favorites. The leaders are England and France, with the odd of 7/2, followed by Germany(6/1), Spain( 7/1), and Portugal(8/1).

If you want to check all the odds and combinations for the upcoming tournament, check out Betway. We can see that England is a leading favorite.

And indeed it really has a strong formation. The title slipped them in 2020 when Italy took the gold. We’ll see if they are lucky enough to win it this time.

Also, we will analyze the best players from the Premier League that we will watch in Euro 2024.

Let’s Start with England Squad

The best player at the moment in the PL is Ollie Watkins. He is keeping a good form throughout the whole season. He is one goal behind Haaland, with 19 goals and 10 assists.

So, it is expected to see him in the England squad, even though he wasn’t an important figure in the national team before. He played only a few games in the last few years, scoring only 3 goals ( 2 of them in friendly games).

Also, if Southgate decides to combine two forwards, we might see Ollie in combination with Dominic Solanke, who is also performing amazingly well this season, with 17 goals and 3 assists. Still, chances are higher that he will be a substitute for phenomenal Watkins.

When it comes to midfield, the coach will have the pleasure to combine Saka, Palmer, and Foden. All three are leaders in their clubs.

Bukayo Saka scored 14 goals and 8 assists. Cole Palmer really proved himself as a real asset after leaving City for Chelsea. He scored 16 goals with an additional 9 assists.

And then there is Phil Foden, a star from Manchester City, also with impressive stats of 14 goals and 7 assists.

Jarrod Bowen and Anthony Gordon

But there are other excellent players with a great season, like Jarrod Bowen( 15/5), and Anthony Gordon (10/8).

And we also shouldn’t forget Marcus Rashford, who might not be having an ideal season but was always more than decent for the national team.

James Maddison is also expected as a standard part of the squad. Southgate will probably pair him with Declan Rice.

The defensive lineup is also full of stars, such as John Stones, Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier, etc. Besides that, Trent Alexander Arnold played a second half against Crystal Palace, meaning that he is fit again.

All in all, it’s interesting that a large number of PL stars are actually from England, which was not always the case, especially in the last two decades.

Havertz is Standard for Germany

Kai Havertz

It seems that Kai is getting back on track after moving to Arsenal. His time at Chelsea wasn’t so impressive since the expectations were much higher. But he fits perfectly into Arsenal’s rotation.

Havertz scored 9 goals and assisted five times. Also, he has been a standard player for Germany for a couple of years already, and we are expecting a high-level performance this summer.

We also have to mention Pascal Gross. Brighton has had its ups and downs this season, but Gross manages to maintain a decent form throughout the whole time. He assisted 10 times, along with 4 goals. I think that is enough to be part of the German squad.

Bruno Fernandes is Lifting His Form Recently

And it seems like the right moment for that. He used the terrible mistake of young Quansah in a derby against Liverpool and scored a pretty goal from nearly half of the field.

And the stats of 8 goals and 6 assists is considered poor for him, but in reality, it is still a decent score for a midfielder. Also, it is expected to see him in a more offensive role in the Portugal team.

Let’s not forget Bernardo Silva. His role changes a bit in City this season, seeing him on the bench more often. However, he is still a joker, a player that can easily turn everything around. He even scored against Real Madrid recently in a draw in CL.

Trossard as Belgian Leader

Leandro Trossard as Belgian Leader

Arsenal is really full of gems this year. Leandro Trossard scored 8 goals and assists in the league, but we shouldn’t forget 4 goals in the Champions League as well as 2 more scored for his national team in the qualification stage.

The attack formation paired with Jeremy Doku from City surely won’t be easy to deal with.

And, of course, the whole team will be led by one of the best players in the world, Kevin de Bruyne.

He had a challenging season, being injured throughout most of it, but managed to show class right after recovery. Kevin reached 3 goals and 6 assists in only 12 games he played by now.

Rodri is the Best Spaniard

The interesting fact is there are no Spanish players as top forwards. That is rarely the case.

However, the spot for one of the best defensive mids is reserved for Rodri, not only in the PL but in the world at the moment. He scored seven goals and same number of assists.

Potential Surprises

This is about the team that might manage to surprise in the upcoming tournament. First of all, we have to mention Rasmus Hojlund. He is playing his first season at Manchester United and has scored seven league goals by now.

He is also quite young, 21 of age, meaning that this is a decent result. So, don’t be too surprised if you see him scoring a lot of goals on Euro.

When it comes to Scotland, McGinn from Aston Villa is having a season from dreams, with 4th place at the moment, and a great chance to keep it by the end. Paired with Scot McTominay, Scotland will have a strong and skillful midfield.

The Bottom Line

And there you have it, We have covered some of the biggest stars that will play at the upcoming tournament. There are other players worth mentioning, such as Dominik Szoboszlai from Liverpool.

Many people see him as the next Steven Gerrard, or Josko Gvardiol from City, who is performing better and better each game and will be a standard choice in Croatia’s squad.
