BCCI on Saturday, 30th July announced India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. Shikhar Dhawan was named as captain. While all-rounders Deepak Chahar and Washington Sundar returned from injury breaks. The three ODIs will be played in Harare on August 18, 20 and 22. Just like the Ireland tour, Indian squad regulars were missing from the squad. Among the notable absentees were Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma and Ex Skipper Virat Kohli. Along with them Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravindra Jadeja, were all rested.
Following them were Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer and Rahul Tripathi. Even players who got their maiden chance in the Ireland series were missing. Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Sanju Samson held on to their places and so did Ruturaj Gaikwad as a backup opener.

Dhawan gets to keep Captaincy after the historic Caribbean whitewash
Shikhar Dhawan gets another opportunity to captain India after leading the side to their first-ever whitewash in an ODI series in the West Indies. The tour will also be a boost for players like Sundar and Chahar who get back after injuries. However, Sundar has already proved his fitness by performing for Lancashire in the English county. Deepak Chahar, who had last played for India in the South Africa tour earlier this year, will be keen to prove himself as a dependable all-rounder option. India is scheduled to tour Zimbabwe for the first time since 2016.
