Sachin Tendulkar’s kind words for Roger Federer as the Swiss legend announces his retirement

Early on Saturday morning in London’s O2 Arena, Roger Federer called it a day on his remarkable career. At the 2022 Laver Cup, he competed in his final career match, a doubles match with Rafael Nadal. The Swiss veteran was immediately showered with messages of congratulations and gratitude for his contributions to the sport on social media. The 20-time Grand Slam champion was hailed on Twitter by greats and legends from other sports, including India’s greatest cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. It wasn’t just tennis players who broke down in tears after Federer’s final match.

The Little Master has a very unique message for the Maestro, as stated in Sachin’s video tribute to Federer that was uploaded on the ATP’s Twitter page. Sachin Tendulkar has been a fan of Federer and has seen him a few times during his matches at Wimbledon.

“Hey Roger, congratulations on a wonderful career. Watching you play tennis was a treat to our eyes. I thoroughly enjoyed the brand of tennis that you played. And slowly, slowly watching you became a habit. Habits never leave us, they never retire. Your tennis will continue to stay with us. Thank you for all the wonderful moments that you have given us. My best wishes to you and your family and for the second innings of your life.”

Sachin said in the video

Regarding the former cricketer from India, he is currently competing in the Road Safety World Series for the India Legends team and has been in superb form with the bat, displaying hints of his old glory. He has played three innings so far and has scored 75 runs in just 40 balls, which is second-highest among India Legends batters behind Stuart Binny (100 runs in two innings).
