Ahead of the upcoming County season, Lancashire has signed Colin de Grandhomme and Daryl Mitchell. Lancashire aims to up their position from runner-up to winner this time with the fresh signings for the T20 campaign and the start of the Championship.
Colin de Grandhomme will join the squad ahead of the season. Meanwhile, Daryl will join in time to meet Somerset on May 11. They will join Ex-Club Captain Dane Vilas as the other overseas in the squad.
The Lancashire gig is not the first De Grandhomme does in English Cricket. He has formerly represented Hampshire, Surrey, and Birmingham Bears. Neither is Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell has played for Middlesex in 2021. The pair will be available for the entirety of the T20 Blast and some games of the Championship.
Mitchell has shined in T20 Format, garnering more than 3000 runs and 60 wickets in 151 games. He has made similar impact in First Class too. In the recent England vs New Zealand Tour, Mitchel proved his consistent class by notching up couple of centuries and note worthy innings.
Colin de Grandhomme, on the other hand, has a lot of experience by playing different kinds of T20 franchise based leagues across the world. He has represented Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkate Kinght Riders (IPL), Adeliadide Strikers (BBL), Jamaica Tallawahs, St Lucia Zouks (CPLT20) among others.
Daryl Mitchell said that he is eager to experience the Vitality Blast again. He added that he feels proud to return to Manchester where he spent couple of years as a child. He also added that he is delighted to play with his old teammates Steven Croft and Richard Gleeson. Colin de Grandhomme also expressed his eagerness to join the team.
