On Wednesday the ICC Test rankings were updated. And Ravindra Jadeja was named the No 1 Test all-rounder in the ICC Test ranking. Jason Holder has held this position for more than a year now. This didn’t come as a shock to anybody. For a couple of years, Jadeja is widely referred to as the best all-rounder for the Indian team by cricket fans and veterans. Jadeja brings a balance to the Indian team with his all-around contributions. Recently, Jadeja scored an unbeaten 175 against Sri Lanka. Moreover, he also took a 5-wicket-haul in the same innings. For scoring 175* and picking 9 wickets in the match. Ravindra Jadeja catapulted to the first rank in ICC Test ranking for an all-rounder. The innings, not only took him up on the ranking ladder but also help him set some records in Indian cricket.

The brilliant performance against Sri Lanka helped him rank 1st as an all-rounder in test cricket. In addition, he moved up places in bowling and batting as well, ranking 17th and 37th respectively. This is not the first time ‘Sir Jadeja’ has achieved the feat. In 2017, he held the spot for a week. The West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder has been sticking to the spot since February 2021. However, Jaddu’s excellent knock displaced holder.

Scoring 175* and taking a 5-wicket-haul in the same innings, Jadeja became the first Indian to do that, batting at number 7. Jaddu now holds the record for the highest score by an Indian batter at number 7. He surpassed Kapil Dev’s decades-old record. In addition, he also became the first player batting at 7 or below to be involved in three 100+ partnerships. Ravindra is only the 3rd Indan to score 150+ batting at 7. Had the Indian team not declared the innings, a double-century didn’t look very difficult.
