IPL Auction 2022: RCB buys Wanindu Hasaranga at 10.75 cr

IPL Auction had everyone gripped to the seat. After getting done with the 1st set of marquee players. The bidding for the second 2nd set begins. Players like Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Quinton de Kock, Pat Cummins, Faf du Plessis, Kagiso Rabada are some of the players who have gone under the hammer as of now. As the bidding for Sri Lankan all-rounder Hasaranga was going on, the auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed. Resultantly, all the proceedings were stopped, as he fell off the podium. The medical team took care of him, instantly. So, the lunch break was taken, the bidding continued at 15:45 IST with Charu Sharma conducting the auction. Finally, RCB buys Wanindu Hasaranga at 10.75 cr.

Wanindu Hasaranga had a base price of Rs 1 crore. Being a leg-spinner in a wicket-taking form, his prices increased in the blink of an eye. Sunrisers Hyderabad was the first to bid for him. However, Punjab also showed a great intent to have him on board. The two franchises were battling over Wanindu Hasaranga. In the meantime, Royal Challengers Bangalore entered the bidding for the all-rounder. His price went on to Rs 10.75 crores when the auctioneer Hugh Edmeades felt unconscious. This bid was left mid-way and a lunch break was taken. Later, when the bidding began by Charu Sharma, no team tried to snatch Hasaranga from Royal Challengers Bangalore. Resultantly, RCB bought Wanindu Hasaranga at 10.75 Cr INR.

Earlier, Hasaranga had played for RCB earlier. He was included in the 2nd phase of IPL in UAE. Currently, he is currently ICC’s no. 1 T20I bowler. Moreover, he has good T20 stats, with 113 in 84 games.
