ICYMI: All the latest developements in CWC 2024

India is scheduled to host the most awaited ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup between October 5 and November 19. Originally, the tournament was scheduled to be played from 9 February to 26 March 2024. But, in July 2020, it was announced that the tournament would be delayed because of the disruption of the qualification schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be the first time the competition is held entirely in India. Before this, India hosted 2011 World Cup along with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. So far India, Australia, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Pakistan, England, Bangladesh and South Africa have qualified for the World Cup. South Africa claimed the last direct qualification spot as Ireland’s game against Bangladesh was washed out. On the other hand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, Scotland, Oman, Nepal, USA, UAE and Ireland will be playing the Qualifier for the remaining two spots.

ICC CWC 2024 Update

Ten teams will be playing across 12 venues in CWC 2024. These venues are Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Delhi, Indore, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Rajkot, Raipur and Mumbai. Ahmedabad will host and conclude the Men’s 50-over World Cup in 2024. England and New Zealand will be playing the innaugural game. On November 19, the final match will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera. India’s first match will most likely be against Australia, and it will take place in Chennai. The game against Pakistan will be played on October 15, which is a Sunday, just like the final on November 19. After receiving formal clearance from all parties, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is anticipated to release the schedule soon, most likely after the current Indian Premier League (IPL).
