All the matches will be played at the county cricket ground, Chelmsford. This series will be crucial for Ireland to qualify for the World Cup. If Ireland manage to whitewash Bangladesh 3-0 then there is still a chance for direct qualification. Bangladesh, placed in 4th position, have already qualified with 103 points.

Currently, Ireland are placed in 11th position with 68 points. If they win all matches then they level the points with South Africa. South Africa are placed at number 8 with 98 points. However, the hosts have to manage a better net run rate than South Africa to book a direct qualification spot in WC 2024. Also, the hosts will have to avoid dropping penalty points. So far India, Australia, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Pakistan, England and Bangladesh have qualified for the World Cup.
