Ravindra Jadeja, often called Sir Jadeja by his fans needs no description. That sword celebration and the left handed bullseye run outs are events which happen only when Jaddu is on the ground. Ravindra Jadeja was ranked as the No.1 bowler in ODI Cricket by the ICC in August 2013. Jadeja is the first India bowler to top the rankings since Anil Kumble, who topped the table in 1996. In 2017, Jadeja became the first Indian left-arm spinner to take 150 One Day International wickets. After his top notch performances of historic 175 not out and 9 wickets in 1st Test vs Sri Lanka Jadeja is currently the top all rounder in the ICC test rankings.
Ravindra Jadeja came quite close to becoming the first man in the history of Test cricket to pick up 10 wickets and hit 150 plus in a Test match. The star studded performance had finished with 9 wickets and 175 not out as India choked Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in Mohali first test in two match test series on Sunday. Jadeja’s stint with the bat took India’s total to 574/8 declared on Day 2. Jaddu with the ball, picked up 8 wickets including a 5-wicket haul in the first innings. Jadeja had the near chance to bag a 10-wicket haul but the last pair of Sri Lankan wickets were picked by R Ashwin and Mohammed Shami.
“To be honest I don’t know about any stat. Feeling very good, happy to score runs and pick wickets for the team. Obviously, as a player, you boost your confidence with such a performance,”
Jadeja said after winning the Player of the Match award

“Great News For Indian Cricket”: says Sunil Gavaskar
The original little master, Sunil Gavaskar has said that Ravindra Jadeja realising his potential with the bat is “great news” for Indian cricket. Jadeja scored an unbeaten 175 in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali, which was part of a consistent run of performances that the spin-bowling all-rounder has put in over the past two years across formats.
“I think he is recognising the talent that he has. Sometimes it takes you sometime to realise how much potential you have. He has taken his time, nothing wrong with that. He has started to believe a lot more that he can contribute with the bat. 175 not out is a big score in any class of cricket. What he said during the end of that day, that he has three triple centuries and two double hundreds. So he knows he can bat and he wants to translate it to Test cricket. Great news for Indian cricket”
said Gavaskar on Star Sports before the start of the second Test in Bengaluru
India next play Sri Lanka in the 2nd Test, a pink-ball affair from March 12 in Bengaluru. Jadeja said he will work towards getting used to the pink ball.
