Duleep Trophy Final: Ajinkya Rahane led West Zone is set to battle against against South Zone in tournament’s final

Ajinkya Rahane led West Zone has advanced to the Duleep Trophy final with a convincing 279-run victory against Central Zone, while Hanuma Vihari’s South Zone thrashed North Zone by an enormous 645 runs to secure their spot the finals.

West Zone will be familiar with the terrain because it defeated Central Zone on the same ground. On the other hand, South Zone will be riding high after crushing North Zone by 645 runs with the second-largest margin of victory by runs in Indian First-Class cricket.

Duleep Trophy final will be starting at the SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore on Wednesday. West Zone and South Zone will now compete for the crown in a five-day match. This will be the 12th time the two teams have faced off in the Duleep Trophy final. South Zone has won four times while West Zone has won six out of the 11 final contests.

After hitting 143 runs in the semifinal, Kerala’s Rohan Kunnummal will be looking to carry that momentum into the final against West Zone.

However West Zone added Shreyas Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, and Priyank Panchal to the roster in the Duleep trophy final, in an effort to make up for the absence of Prithvi Shaw and Rahul Tripathi, who were chosen for the India A one-day series against New Zealand A. Shaw was also named Player of the Match in the semifinal.
