The 31-year old Karun Nair from Karnataka has been named as a replacement for injured KL Rahul in IPL 2024. The LSG skipper, KL Rahul sustained an hip injury while fielding against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday. The batter confirmed that he’ll miss the remaining games in the IPL and the WTC Final too.
The franchise has signed Karun Nair for 50 lakhs INR. The right-handed batter has played 76 IPL games and has scored 1496 runs at an average of 23.75 and a strike rate of 127.75. Karun has also smashes a triple century in Tests.

Karun Nair has mostly warmed the bench for various franchises in IPL. He was picked by Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 2014 season where he amassed 330 runs at a strike rate of 142.24. Karun moved to the Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) in the 2016 season where crossed 350-run mark while smashing thee-half centuries. He even captained DD in the 2017 season in Zaheer Khan’s absence. He went to the Kings XI in the 2018 season. His last appereance in IPL came for the Rajasthan Royals against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on 2nd May 2022.

Karun Nair, who went unsold in the IPL 2024 auction, will join the squad ahead of Lucknow’s next match on Sunday in Ahmedabad against the defending champions Gujarat Titans. The Lucknow Super Giants are at the second-place in the table. They have 11 points in 10 games on the back of 5 wins and 1 washed out game.
