What a battle between two young captains!! The 36th match of IPL 2021, scheduled at Sheikh Zayed Stadium was between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. While Rishabh Pant tries to get DC back on the top, Sanju Samson leads RR to make a spot in the top 4. Although DC took off with a poor start, still managed to make 154 at a loss of 6 wickets. RR bowlers managed to keep the target decent but lost the match. Intellectual bowling from Delhi Capitals as they restricted RR to 121. DC vs RR Man of the match award: DC might not have reached 154 without the effort from middle order batsmen. One of them also received the Man of the Match award for his crucial inning.

Starting with the match, RR won the toss and decided to bowl. The two young bowlers Kartik and Chetan Sakariya striked in the powerplay as they dismissed Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw. However Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant managed to balance the team after the top order failure. They scored 43 and 24 respectively and Shimron Hetmyer also made 28 off 16. So the middle order performed fairly good and DC was able to put 154 runs on the board. RR bowlers did a good job and restricted DC from putting a big total.

In the second innings, the top order of RR also tumbled. They lost 3 wickets for a mere 17 runs. Although wickets continue to fall, the effort from Sanju Samson must be appreciated. He single handedly fought against the delhi bowlers and smashed 70 off 53. Despite his powerful inning, RR lost the match by 33 runs. On the other hand, DC bowlers bowled brilliantly and all the bowlers took at least one wicket. Today’s win was quite fruitful for DC as they moved to the top of the table and secured their position for playoffs.

Man of the Match in DC vs RR match

The former DC captain bags the Man of the Match award. Shreyas Iyer came when there was immense pressure on the batsmen. He handled the situation perfectly and showcased his skills. He smashed 43 off 32 at a strike rate of 134 and helped DC to maintain the balance.
