Another el-clasico rivalry witnessed today. The 34th match of IPL 2021, scheduled at Sheikh Zayed Stadium was between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. Stats show that Mumbai has a quite impressive record against KKR. Out of 28 matches, Mumbai has won 22 of them while KKR has won only 6. So let’s have a look who has outshone whom? KKR restricted MI to 155 runs as the middle order failed for Mumbai. KKR easily chased the target and had a thumping victory over MI. The top order batsman smashed blazing fifties and credit to bowlers who performed so well. MI vs KKR Man of the Match award: One of the bowlers received the Man of the Match award for his impressive economical bowling.

Starting with the match, KKR won the toss and chose to field first. Although Mumbai was able to get a good start, they failed to get a big score on the board. While Rohit scored 33, Quinton De Kock smashed 55 off 42 to give a good start. However the middle order tumbled and none of them performed well. KKR bowlers did a very good job and restricted MI to 155 runs. Furthermore, Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and Lockie Ferugson delivered an economical spell though Prasidh Krishna and Russell went expensive.

In the second innings, KKR started aggressively though Shubman Gill was dismissed early. However the other two batsmen, Venkatesh Iyer and Rahul Tripathi continued to muster the Mumbai’s bowlers. Venkatesh Iyer, may be the next big thing, he smashed a quickfire 53 at a strike rate of 176. And Rahul Tripathi smashed a gutsy knock of 74 off 42 and remained not out. Tough day for Mumbai bowlers as all of them went so expensive.

Man of the Match award- Sunil Narine

The West Indies spinner bagged the Man of the Match award. Sunil Narine conceded only 20 runs in his 4 over spell and also dismissed Rohit Sharma. One thing can be noticed till now that bowlers are shining in this season.
