It seems to be an endless transfer saga for Frenkie De Jong as there has been yet another twist in his transfer move from Barcelona. Manchester United have been trying to sign the Dutchman all summer long despite the fact that he still appears to be disinterested in joining them. But now according to the Spanish reports, it looks like another Premier League club could enter the race to sign him and that team is in the form of Tuchel’s Chelsea. The London club is said to be keeping an eye on the developments between United and Barcelona. Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly is considering making a formal offer to the Catalan Giants for the midfielder.

Tuchel believes that his project and system at Chelsea could be more appealing to De Jong than the one of United’s. Frenkie meanwhile is in a middle of a battle with Barcelona over his current wages in his contract as he is currently earning around 350,000 Euros per week. This wage structure of De Long has left the hierarchy of Barcelona frustrated and which is why they are trying to convince him to reduce his wages. But the midfielder is reluctant to take a pay cut and as a matter of fact he is also owed a significant amount in deferred payments.
Manchester United have agreed to pay 75 Million Euros fixed and 10 Million in variables and this is a figure that both the clubs are happy with, but De Jong is only interested in a team that will be playing Champions League football, which United aren’t. Now this brings Chelsea into the picture as there could be a likely scenario that they may hijack this deal. So all in all, one thing is for sure that this transfer saga is not going to be resolved for quite a few weeks.
