Rajat Patidar become the first uncapped player to hit a century in IPL Playoffs

Patidar now shares joint fastest IPL playoffs century with Wriddhiman Saha.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are to end their long wait for the maiden IPL title as they look to make their way into the finals. Playing the eliminator tonight with their arch-rivals Lucknow SuperGiants who too have had a dream run in their first campaign. The match between LSG and RCB is underway at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Meanwhile, RCB’s young gun Rajat Patidar was the star of the show. The youngster became the first uncapped player to hit a century in IPL playoffs history.

Rajat Patidar scores the fastest century of IPL 2022

Rajat hit a 49 ball ton to take RCB 207/4 in their 20 overs. He hit the fastest century of this year’s IPL, contributing with a staggering unbeaten innings of 112 runs off only 54 balls that consisted of 12 fours and 7 sixes. The RCB youngster in tandem with Dinesh Karthik put up a special show for fans of the Bengaluru-based franchise. Such was the impact of Patidar, who joined RCB as a replacement player, that Virat Kohli, along with all of the RCB players in the dugout stood up to give the Indian youngster a standing ovation after he notched his century.

While other senior batters like Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell struggled for runs against Lucknow. With Virat Kohli only scoring 25 runs before getting dismissed. The baton fell upon the middle order to take RCB to a formidable total. Patidar grabbed this opportunity with both hands. He along with Dinesh Karthik who too has been in a dream form this season gave Lucknow bowlers a tough night in the Ist inning.
