The IPL 2022 is nearing its business end with the Top 4 teams ready to play in the playoffs. While all the matches of the league stage were played in Mumbai and Pune to avoid much traveling. The playoffs will be held at Eden Gardens and Narendra Modi Stadium in Kolkata and Ahmedabad respectively. Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals will lock horns in Qualifier 1 at Eden Gardens on May 24th. While the second match in Kolkata will be Eliminator 1 between RCB and LSG. Reports state that ICC’s top Officials will be present for the IPL 2022 Play-offs.
It is to be noted that BCCI has supposedly invited the ICC officials to discuss the IPL media rights for the upcoming seasons. Moreover, the BCCI is in process of selling the media rights for the next cycle. The six-year media rights cycle will be concluding in 2024. In addition, ICC’s 8-year-cycle will also be ending around the same time. Therefore, ICC officials will discuss the same with their Indian counterparts.
ICC’s Top Officials to arrive in India for IPL 2022 Play-offs
“Greg Barclay, the ICC chairman, will attend the Qualifier 1 (May 24). Also Eliminator (May 25) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. While Geoff Allardice, the Chief Executive Officer of the ICC, will be present during the Qualifier 2 on May 27. And the final on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. They are likely to discuss the upcoming media rights of the ICC with the BCCI officials during their trip.”
