This bout comes after Paul’s victory over MMA fighter Nate Diaz in August, following his initial defeat to Tommy Fury. With a fighting career record of 7 wins and 1 loss, the 26-year-old Paul is driven by his aspirations to become a world champion. He emphasized the importance of gaining more experience by facing seasoned opponents in the ring.
As for his opponent, the 35-year-old Andre August boasts a record of 10 wins and 1 loss. He will engage in an eight-round cruiserweight contest against his fellow American, Jake Paul.
Andre commented, “I don’t talk very much. I’m all about that action. Jake Paul has the money, the fame, the team, and the resources, but he doesn’t have my hunger. When that bell rings, I am going to go straight to Jake Paul and ring his bell and send him back to YouTube for good.”
Jake Paul, who is 26 years old, began his boxing journey in 2020 by defeating YouTuber Ali Eson Gib. He then beat former NBA player Nate Robinson and MMA fighter Ben Askren in two more fights. In 2021, Paul won against MMA star Tyron Woodley twice, and a close victory over Anderson Silva in 2022.
However, Paul suffered his first loss to boxer Tommy Fury in February, leaving him with a record of 7 wins and 1 loss. He managed to knock out seven of his first eight opponents.
On the other side, Andre August, a 35-year-old fighter from Houston who stands at 5-foot-10, is on a five-fight winning streak. His most recent win was a unanimous decision against Brandon Martin on August 11th in St. Louis. August has scored five knockouts in his 12-fight career.
