The tennis world had many ‘Greatest Of All Time’ throughout these years. Currently, in the open era Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer are considered to be the Big 3. However, the World number 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas made a controversial comment, says the rivalry is now between Nadal and Djokovic. Also said, “Federer is finished, No Big 3 anymore”.
Stefanos Tsitsipas in his recent interview for Barcelona Open 2022 said he believes that right now there is no competition from Roger Federer. His Big three reduces to two, Novak Djokovic (1) and Rafael Nadal (4). Stefanos Tsitsipas made a controversial comment, says the rivalry is now between Nadal and Djokovic.
Roger Federer is no Big three anymore
The Greek number one made a controversial statement, saying, right now they are not the top three players in the ranking, one of them has been absent for a long time. He also added, that there is still competition between the other two players of The Big 3.
Recently, Stefanos Tsitsipas won his 8th career title defeating world no. 27 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the final in Monte Carlos Masters 2022. He continued to hold the title for the second consecutive time in Monte Carlos. His performances are improving day by day as he looks ahead to being in the top 3 players.
When will Federer come back?
Roger Federer is not playing a couple of upcoming tournaments for now. Many statements and questions are flashing in reference to continuing his career. Presently, Roger is at rest as he faced a knee problem. In 2021, he didn’t play many big tournaments, concluding with only 9/4 win-loss. Stefanos’s belief could be quite interesting to talk about as currently, Federer is nowhere to be seen in tournaments.
Novak Djokovic is currently world no. 1 for a record total of 366 weeks. Right now, he is playing Serbia Open 2022 after his last appearance in Monte Carlos Masters Open 2022 where he lost to Fokina. Whereas, Rafael Nadal is surprisingly playing his career-best tennis past few tournaments including the AO 2022. According to Tsitsipas, the Big 3 could limit till the rivalry between Novak and Nadal.
