Alexander Zverev Breathes Relief As ATP Finds Insufficient Evidence on His Abuse Allegation

Olga Sharypova, his ex-girlfriend, said in a magazine interview that Alexander Zverev was emotionally and physically violent to her during their relationship. The ATP had opened an investigation after her claims in October 2021. Following accusations of domestic violence against the German, the ATP said on Tuesday that it would not take any punishment against former world number two Alexander Zverev.

Olga Sharypova, his ex-girlfriend, claimed in a magazine interview that Zverev was emotionally and physically abusive to her during their relationship. The ATP had opened an investigation into her claims in October 2021. Zverev has firmly refuted each and every charge.

ATP Conducted a 15-month Inquiry on Alexander Zverev

“A major independent investigation into Alexander Zverev has found insufficient evidence to substantiate published allegations of abuse. As a result, no disciplinary action will be taken by ATP. The investigation was carried out by The Lake Forest Group (LFG), a third-party investigator LFG conducted extensive interviews with both Sharypova and Zverev, and 24 other individuals including family and friends, tennis players, and other parties involved with the ATP Tour

IT SAID IN A STATEMENT.

The ATP stated that during the 15-month inquiry, which entailed looking into Zverev’s personal devices. They were unable to substantiate abuse claims or establish that any player offences occurred.

This determination may however be re-evaluated should new evidence come to light, or should any legal proceedings reveal violations of ATP rules,” it added.

“Zverev has consistently denied all allegations and supported ATP’s investigation.”
