Mahesh Bhupathi is an Indian tennis player who was also one of the most dominant doubles players in the sport. With his victory in the mixed doubles event at the 1997 French Open, he became the first Indian to win a Grand Slam title. Moreover, he went on to win four men’s doubles and seven more mixed doubles Grand Slam titles as well. Furthermore, he has represented India at the Olympics. He is also the founder of International Premier Tennis League. In December 2016, Bhupathi was appointed as India’s next non-playing Davis Cup captain as well. He took over the reins from Anand Amritraj in February 2017.

In 2012, Mahesh Bhupathi threatened to boycott the Olympics if he was forced to play with Leander Paes by the All India Tennis Association (AITA). He also called his once friend Paes a ‘back-stabber’.
