During Sunday Night Football, Patrick Mahomes added another all-time achievement to his already amazing resume, making history in the process. The Chiefs great quarterback amassed 20,000 passing yards in his career at the quickest rate in NFL history.
Super Milestone for Mahomes
Against the Buccaneers in the third quarter, Mahomes made the mark. He only needed 67 games to accomplish the milestone. Mahomes, 27, joined the contest 152 yards from the earlier location. Prior to him, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford set a record by accumulating 20,000 passing yards in just 71 games while playing for the Lions.
The Chiefs quarterback has already won the Super Bowl, been selected for four Pro Bowls, been named NFL MVP, Super Bowl MVP, and Offensive Player of the Year. In his sixth NFL season, Mahomes will almost probably add a lot more trophies to his trophy cabinet.
Patrick Mahomes Previous Milestone
In addition, Mahomes passed 10,000 passing yards in 2020, making him the NFL’s quickest quarterback ever. Mahomes reached the milestone in his career’s 34th game, which is two games quicker than the previous record-holder, Hall of Famer Kurt Warner, who did so in just 36 games.
In his 49th game of his career, Mahomes also set the record for the fastest quarterback in NFL history to pass for 15,000 yards in 2021. Year after year, he is breaking records. 2020 for fastest 10K, 2021 for fastest 15K and now 2022 for fastest 20K.
