The first race of the 2024 Formula 1 season is scheduled to take place at the very same Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir. The Bahrain Grand Prix will span from 3rd March to 5th March.
Pre-season testing provides an opportunity to for the teams on the grid to reflect on how much the car on-track varies from the simulator results. Additionally, if any prevalent aero-dynamic or porpoising-related issue show up, it gives teams some feedback to work with. More importantly, drivers get to relay back to the team whether they feel at one with the car or if something has to change.
This year, all eyes will be on the heavily acclaimed Ferrari 675. It was reported that simulator work reflected that the Ferrari 675 was one second per lap faster than its predecessor.
Furthermore, many are keen to see if ‘mid-field teams’ such as Aston Martin and McLaren end up potentially producing a car that would trouble the ‘Big Three’ ahead of the grid.
