Melbourne: The Australian Grand Prix Corporation confirmed that Australian Grand Prix 2024 will take place on 30th March to 2nd April. The race schedule means that Australian Grand Prix will be the third round of the Formula 1 2022-2024 Season calendar.
Australian Grand Prix used to be the opening round for F1 from 1996 to 2019. However, during the run, Melbourne did not hold the opening race of the season in two years. The Australian grand Prix was absent for the following two years before returning in 2022 as third round race. The 2024-24 season schedule has not been released yet. Nevertheless, We expect Bahrain and Saudi to take the first and second race respectively.
As a part of the new contract signed a couple month back, Albert Park is supposed to open five seasons between 2024 and 2035. AGP is expected to open the calendar in 2024 and 2025. Also, The three other slots will be spread across the decade.
The Australian Grand Prix 2024 comes with an additional surprise. There will be F2 and F3 Race happening in Australia for the first time.
However, It is not at all the most interesting storyline of the race. Oscar Piastri will become the third Australian to race at home in Melbourne era after Weber and Ricciardo. More Interestingly, if the lineup awards Piastri a seat, the young driver will also become the first Melburnian to race at Melbourne. It would be a full-on home ride for him.
