There is no escaping from this virus. After the resumption of cricket in West Indies, the 2nd ODI is postponed due to cases in Ireland camp. But now it is supposed that it is the right time to reschedule the 2nd ODI. The series opener was a well contested match. West Indies have so much batting power and depth but haven’t learnt the formula of playing 50 over cricket. Ireland also fought it hard till the end and we can expect more fight from the Irish players this time. We’ll also see who won MOM in WI vs IRE 2nd ODI.

First innings
Both team started pretty well. Irish bowlers were bowling in good areas and were able to extract swing and seam movement. On the other hand, West Indies were playing defensively in the first powerplay to have wickets remaining. Craig Young gave Ireland a brilliant start as he got the top three cheaply. West Indies then struggled against the turning ball as McBrine found assistance. Shamarh Brooks, the hero of the previous match was able to get to 43 runs. At one point of time, West Indies were 143/8. But the brilliant effort from Shephard and Odean Smith took West Indies to a total of 229 runs. Odean Smith played a gem of an innings of 46 runs of just 19 balls. Ireland have a target of 230 runs in 50 overs.
Second innings
Ireland have a below par total to chase. But they haven’t got to the best of starts. Ireland lost 2 wickets in the first 10 overs after scoring 60 runs. Ireland lost 2 wickets but they were batting at decent rate and batting wasn’t looking that difficult. Harry Tector remained unbeaten till the end and scored a fine half century. Rain played it’s spoilsport in the middle of Ireland innings and the play has been reduced to 36 overs due to rain. The fast scoring by Ireland came into place at this time. And Ireland comfortably won this match by 5 wickets. Akeal Hossein got 2 wickets for West Indies but none of the bowlers were brilliant. And the series is now stand at 1-1. Ireland have squared the series and it is still alive.
Who won MOM in WI vs IRE 2nd ODI?
Andy McBrine, with his all round performance, was adjudged as the Man of the Match in West Indies vs Ireland 2nd ODI. In the first innings, McBrine bowled brilliantly and scalped 4 quality wickets of West Indies which includes captain Pollard also. He spun a web around West Indian batsmen and took important wickets. However, he got assistance from the pitch but he was outstanding. And in the second innings, he batted beautifully and scored 35 runs. McBrine stabilized the innings with Harry Tector when both the openers got dismissed in the first powerplay.
