Currently, a less preferred choice in Indian limited overs setup, veteran pacer Umesh Yadav is sweating it out in the Royal London Cup. At Chester-le-Riverside Street’s Ground playing for Middlesex versus Durham, the speedster put on a show with the ball. With a five-wicket haul (5/33) after tearing down Durham’s batting order, he was able to dismiss the opponents for 268 in 49.2 overs.
Graham Clark, Scott Borthwick, Liam Trevaskis, Oliver Gibson, and Chris Rushworth were all fired as a result of Umesh’s actions. Three of the wickets were taken by bowling, but one was LBW, and the last wicket was caught and bowled.
Umesh enjoying the fresh turf
Reacting to his performance, Umesh Yadav tweeted: “Always a special feeling to get a 5 wicket haul. Onwards & upwards.”
In the game, Middlesex crossed the finish line in 41.1 overs with 9 wickets in hand thanks to captain Stephen Eskinazi’s unbeaten 146 from 132 balls. During the chase, Mark Stoneman (age 62) and Sam Robson (age 55*) both smashed half-centuries.
