After smashing boundaries in the Asia Cup 2022, our India’s modern day batting legend Virat Kohli is now ruling social media as well, becoming the first cricketer to amass 50 million followers on Twitter. He returned to the Asia Cup 2022 with a bang and finished the competition as the second-highest run-scorer. For the first time since he began playing professional cricket, Kohli admitted before the competition that he had not touched his bat for a month.
Virat scored his maiden T20I century in India’s last super 4s stage match against Afghanistan. He scored a record 122* in 61 balls with 12 fours and six sixes to his name. With this ton, he also became the second highest century scorer in international cricket with 71 centuries. The former Indian skipper went past Ricky Ponting‘s record of 70 tons. And is now only behind Sachin Tendulkar‘s record of 100 tons.

In addition to breaking records on the field, Kohli has been making history off it as well. He is the first cricketer to have 50 million followers on Twitter. The professional cricketer has more than 310 million social media followers, including 211 million on Instagram and 49 million on Facebook.
India will soon play against Australia in the three-match T20I series with the first match to be played in Mohali on 20th September. Following that follows a T20 series with Proteas. These series would be a dress rehearsal for T20 world cup in Australia later this year.
