Umran Malik bowls the 2nd fastest ball in IPL history at 157 kmph

The speedster from J&K notched up a speed of 157 kmph against DC.

Umran Malik is breathing fire this season as he has yet again broken his own record of the quickest ball of IPL 2022. In today’s game against Delhi Capitals, Malik clocked 157 kmph in the last over of the first innings. This delivery by Umran Malik is now the 2nd fastest ball in IPL history. Former Australian pacer, Shaun Tait, still holds the record as he notched up a speed of 157.71 kmph in IPL 2011 against Delhi. Talking about Umran, the pacer from Jammu bowled a total of 4 deliveries over 150 kmph in the 20th over.

However, the same issue of poor control haunted Umran back as he leaked 52 runs in 4 overs. Unfortunately for high-flying Umran, he could not pick even a single wicket against DC tonight. Delhi Capitals ended up with an above par total as they posted a scored 207 runs in their 20 overs for the loss of 3 wickets.

Coming into today’s game, Umran and Lockie Ferguson of Gujarat Titans were having a tough battle in their race to bowl the fastest delivery of IPL 2022. Umran held the record with a speed of 154 kmph. But after today’s game, a comeback for Lockie seems to be next to impossible. With him constantly bowling over 150 kmph, Umran has definitely ignited hope among all Indians as he stands a chance to break Shoaib Akhtar’s elusive record of 161 kmph. Though the task is extremely tough for any bowler, giving it a shot is definitely worth it if fitness is carefully monitored.
