Twitter Hails Rohit Sharma as the Indian Skipper Bats Brilliantly Despite an Injured Thumb

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma had to leave the field midway as he injured his thumb while fielding in the first innings.

India is having a disappointing outing in Bangladesh with the second consecutive loss in the ODI series. With the latest win, the hosts have officially won the three-match ODI series. India’s batting line-up dwindled once again as captain Rohit Sharma missed to open the innings. However, as the events unfolded, the skipper entered the attack toward the end of the innings. Batting with an injured thumb, Rohit Sharma almost took the game home with his 51* off 28 knock.

Bangladesh chose to bat first in the second ODI against India. The Indian pace attack, meanwhile, successfully stunned the Bangladeshi top order. However, the swift wickets galore were interrupted as Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan Miraj set up the perfect partnership. Amassing 148 for the 7th wicket, the pair pushed the total par 200. Moreover, Miraj’s persistent effort led to him scoring his maiden ODI century as Bangladesh put up a total of 271 on the scoreboard.

Rohit Sharma Puts On a Determined Show As He Bats With an Injured Thumb

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma had to leave the field midway as he injured his thumb while fielding in the first innings. Subsequently, Sharma had to get his thumb scanned as KL Rahul took India’s lead on the field. Eventually, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan opened the Indian batting attack. However, both the openers along with KL Rahul and Washington Sundar failed to make any impact on the match. Shreyas Iyer, meanwhile, anchored the innings scoring 82 off 102 before getting out on Miraj’s attack. Axar Patel also provided an inkling of hope with his 56 off 56 knock.

However, as Bangladesh denied any window for the Indians in the match, skipper Rohit Sharma entered the field with an injured thumb. Batting with tailender Mohammad Siraj, Sharma immediately got going hitting 5 sixes. Skipper almost made it through with his 51* off 28 knock. However, his efforts consisting of 5 sixes and 3 fours failed to sail past the match as India lost by 5 runs, a finishing six essentially.
