The announcement of the squads for the T20 World Cup saw quite a lot of head-scratching decisions. While choosing their squads, the teams want to be represented by their best players. This, however, may not always be 100% accurate. Case-in-point, the players mentioned below; the exclusion of which left quite a lot of us perplexed. That being said, here is a list of the top five players who were surprisingly dropped for the T20 world cup.
Top Five Players Surprisingly Dropped for T20 World Cup
5. Yuzvendra Chahal:
India’s highest wicket-taker in iT20s, Yuzvendra Chahal’s name was shockingly left out of India’s squad for the T20 World Cup. The leggie has been Virat’s go-to bowler in the middle overs over the last 4 years. UAE’s spin-friendly tracks would’ve helped Yuzi in the tournament, which is evident in his recent outlandish IPL performances. However, the sun has not yet set for the former National Chess Champion. According to insider reports, he may be included in India’s 15-man squad before 10th October.
4. Faf du Plessis:
South Africa’s decision to leave out former captain Faf du Plessis was not well received by fans worldwide. Thousands of messages and tweets were sent out in outrage, criticizing the board for dropping their loyal soldier. Faf has been in red-hot form as of late which is evident of his scintillating performances in CPL and IPL. Leaving him out significantly weakens South Africa’s batting. A bonafide legend of the game, the future doesn’t look bright for Faf in South Africa.
3. Ben Stokes:
Although Stokes wasn’t actually dropped from the side, his name is too big to not be mentioned in this list. Ben Stokes took an indefinite break from cricket to focus on his mental health issues back in June. The all-rounder is yet to announce his arrival back in the field. England’s coach Chris Silverwood hasn’t yet spoken to Stokes about his return but chances of his inclusion are very slim. Stoksy’s absence will most definitely be felt by the English fans as they enter the tournament without him.

2. Chris Morris:
In another unpopular decision taken by the South African Board, veteran all-rounder Chris Morris was left out. Having someone of his caliber in your arsenal is without a doubt a privilege for any side. Morris has proved his worth with both bat and ball in the outings he’s had in the IPL. It will be curious to see how SA performs after having dropped the ball with him and many other deserving players.
1. Sunil Narine:
Taking into account his current form, Sunil Narine would be an ideal first-choice spinner for any team. Add in his newfound batting abilities and you’re looking at a certified death-over slogger as well. The mystery spinner hasn’t represented the Windies for over 2 years but his vast experience calls for his inclusion. Having around 450-wickets to his name in T20s, Sunil Narine is a luxury no side can afford to let go.
