Sam Curran has enchanted one and all with his latest all-round performance in the T20 World Cup 2022. Wrapping the tournament with 13 wickets in account, Curran received the Player of the Series award in the World Cup campaign. Moreover, his 3-12 figure in the final match against Pakistan also earned him the Player of the Match award in the game. The former CSK player entered the IPL 2024 mini-auction being one of the contenders for the highest bid of the season.

The bid for Sam Curran was full of action with over three teams engaging in the bidding war. Curran’s former team, CSK put most of their treasure on the table for the all-rounder. While Rajasthan with a low purse value bowed out as the price tag touched 13.25 crore, Punjab entered the bid at the moment. With contenders like LSG, MI, and the Royals Sam Curran finally went to Punjab Kings. At the time of his bid, Curran became the highest-paid player in the auction. Punjab Kings bought Curran for as high as 18.50 crores.

Sam Curran missed the IPL 2022 season following an injury. Consequently, CSK released the all-rounder ahead of the mega-auction. However, when Curran re-entered the IPL scene, he came as the World Cup winner. Hence, half of the teams in the pool fought for Curran’s rights. While his former team tried its best, there always comes a limit with a purse value of a mere 20 crore. As it stands now, Sam Curran is all set to shine in red for Punjab Kings in IPL 2024.
