Skipper Rohit Sharma gave a stern reply to cricket experts calling for Virat Kohli to be dropped off the team. In a post-match conference, Hitman has emphasized that the team follows a “thought process”. In addition, he talked about the ‘outside noise’ and how the team atmosphere is unaffected by it. it is noteworthy that MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have also talked about this during their tenure as Indian captains. Rohit Sharma opens up on Virat Kohli’s form and how they need to give a player who has done so much for the country, the due respect and confidence they need in the tough times. Talking about bad form, he says even the greatest cricketers including himself have gone through that phase.
Rohit Sharma opens up on Virat Kohli’s form
“He is watching the game from outside and does not know what is happening inside. We have our thought process. We build our team and behind this, there is a lot of thinking. Moreover, We back the boys and give them opportunities. So, these things you do not get to know from outside. So, whatever is happening outside is not important but what is happening inside is more important for us. If you talk about form then everyone goes through ups and downs. The player’s quality does not get affected. So, we should keep these things in our minds. When a player is doing well for so many years, then one or two bad series does not make him a bad player. We should not overlook his past performances. We who are in the team know the importance of the player. They have got all the right to talk about it but it does not matter for us too much.f you talk of form, it goes up and down for everyone. The quality of a player never goes down and we should remember that. When you make certain comments, you should always remember that the quality of a player does not go down. We back that quality. It has happened with me, it has happened with XYZ, it has happened with everyone, it is nothing new. When some player has done so well consistently for so long, that can’t be written off in one or two series or one or two years. It takes people time to understand it completely, but those who are running the team know the importance of that quality,”

Kapil Dev on Virat Kohli: “If he isn’t performing, you cannot keep the youngsters out”
Earlier, Kapil Dev raised his concerns about Virat’s struggles with form. “If world No. 2 Test bowler Ashwin can be dropped from Test side then your No. 1 batter can also be dropped. If he (Virat) is not performing, you cannot continue to keep these boys (youngsters like Deepak Hooda) out. I hope there is a healthy fight for selection, the youngsters should look to outperform Kohli. But Kohli needs to think, ‘Yes at one point I was a big player, but I need to play like that No. 1 player again’. That is a problem for the team, it is not a bad problem.”
“Virat is not batting at a level which we have seen him do over the years. He has made a name because of his performances but if he isn’t performing, then you can’t keep the performing youngsters out of the team,” he added
