Reports: BCCI to introduce drinks break after 10 overs of each innings in IND vs SA

KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav will miss the 1st match due to injuries. Therefore, Rishabh Pant will be leading the team.

Playing in Indian conditions is always tough for overseas players. The national capital is all set to host a cricket match after more than 2 years. South Africa and India will lock horns in the first T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on June 9th at 19:00 IST. The temperature has been hovering around the 40s in Delhi and the players had to shift the practice in the evening hours. The South African captain had also expressed his concerns around the same. Now, the reports suggest that BCCI is planning to introduce drinks break after every 10 overs in the IND vs SA T20I series. Moreover, a total of 5 matches are to be played, this decision will help the players.

“We expected it to be hot, not this hot. Fortunately, the games are being played in the evening. At night, it is more bearable. The guys are trying to keep themselves hydrated. Keeping themselves as mentally fresh as they can. Hydration, cramping, and fatigue are big things. We can only get used to it by playing in this heat. And unfortunately for us, we are doing it in competitive cricket.”

Temba Bavuma

Recently, the Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma has raised his concerns over the difficult conditions. As the South African cricketers are struggling to deal with the summer heat. On the other hand, the Indian team would’ve had an upper hand being familiar with the playing conditions. However, captain KL Rahul and the in-form Kuldeep Yadav are injured and will miss the series. Therefore, Rishabh Pant will be leading India, Hardik Pandya was named his deputy. India will be eyeing to win the contest and record the longest winning streak in T20Is.

“This is the first time we are playing with these kinds of conditions in India after a long time. We might get dehydrated, we might get tired early, but I think it’s part and parcel of the game. We just have to keep improving and not think about the heat too much, focus on game tactics.”
