India vs New Zealand 1st ODI: The first ODI between India and New Zealand was a combination of two batting masterclasses from both the teams. While, in the second inings Bracewell braced the game with a fantastic knock of 140, where he brought New Zealand back in the game from almost a losing situation.
New Zealand was struggling 131 for 6. Many would have though Game over, but Bracewell had other plans and he Counterattacked the Indian Side with his flamboyant batting, putting New Zealand in a place where they were in sight of winning the game, only to fall short by 12 runs.

However, Michael Bracewell, 31, who was playing in just his 17th ODI, delighted the spectators and gave Rohit Sharma plenty of cause for concern. Bracewell gave India a major scare in the first ODI by scoring 140 in just 78 balls while blasting 10 sixes and 12 boundaries.
While batting with No. 11 Blair Tickner, Bracewell smashed a six against Shardul Thakur with 20 needed off the last over. Thakur then bowled a wide. The bowler was feeling the strain. The left-handed hitter, though, was unable to maintain composure and lead New Zealand across the finish line.

As New Zealand lost the first ODI by just 12 runs, Bracewell was removed on 140 in the second delivery of the final over after missing a slower-ball yorker from Shardul.
The ODI was won by India, giving them a 1-0 lead, but Michael Bracwell undoubtedly gained some new admirers because to his brilliant effort. He and Mitchell Santner contributed to a counter-attacking 162-run stand, which caused New Zealanders to begin praying for a miracle as they pounded the Indian bowlers.

Sanjay Manjrekar noted that Gill was at ease hitting in the “V” since he took no risks, even when he struck powerful shots.

Mohammed Siraj was India’s star with the ball while Shardul claimed the game-winning wicket in the final over. Siraj notched up his second consecutive 4-wicket haul in ODIs while being watched by his family at his home field. He concluded with 4/46 and 2 maidens in his bowling.
Siraj reappeared in the last overs to take the crucial wicket of Santner and break the 162-run partnership, which allowed India to retake the lead in the match. Siraj had earlier used the new ball to remove Devon Conway. As the Hyderabad fans cheered him on whenever he took a wicket, he couldn’t have wished for a finer game at home.
