GT vs MI: Live Score and Update!

GT vs MI: GT set to play against CSK in the Final!

Back-to-Back Finals for Gujrat Titans! They have defeated the five-time champs by a thumping margin of 62 runs to advance to the Finals. A Shubman Gill hundred combined with Mohit Sharma’s 5-fer has blown Mumbai out of the tournament! It didn’t take time to wrap the game after SKY was dismissed! They lost the last 6 wickets for just 16 runs. Gujrat Titans is now the third team to make it to two successive IPL finals after CSK and MI.

TATA IPL 2024 Final: CHENNAI SUPER KINGS vs GUJRAT TITANS, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad!

GT vs MI: GT in front now!

The last four overs have just pulled it back for Gujrat Titans. Overs 12-15 have only conceded 33 runs and resulted in 3 wickets. Mohit Sharma gets Suryakumar Yadav and Vishnu Vinod in the same over! MI are 156/6 in 15 overs now. Need 78 runs in 30 balls. This will be a very tall ask for Tim David to acheive!

Vishnu Vinod subs Ishan Kishan!

Vishnu Vinod comes in as a concussion substitute for Ishan Kishan! He is walking out to bat as Josh Little has dismissed Cam Green for 30! Mumbai Indians are 128/4 after 12 overs.

Equation: 106 runs | 48 balls

GT vs MI: Smart batting keeps MI in the hunt!

Good batting this by the Mumbai Indians. They are not leaving any scoring opportunities right now. Minimising dot balls and smashing the bad one! Mumbai Indians are 110/3 after 10 overs. Need 124 runs in 60 balls.

GT vs MI: Tilak Varma launches a brutal counter attack!

Tilak Varma smashed 43 runs in just 14 balls. He revived the MI innings after two early strikes. He has given a good start to build on before being knocked over by Rashid Khan. The CRR > RRR at the moment, but MI can’t afford to lose another wicket here. MI are 72/3 after 6 overs. MI need 162 runs in 84 balls.

Rohit’s gone too!

Rohit falls while playing the pull shot, one of his favourite strokes. Looks to play a pull shot from the front foot to an shot ball angling-in to batter and manages a top-edge. Little approaches from the fine leg, settles beneath the skier and completes the catch. Mumbai Indians are rocked early and are in trouble!

Green is walking off retired hurt.

A nasty 146 kmph delivery from Pandya has struck Green near his elbow. Green attempted to line up for a cross-batted shot but drew his forearm tight to his body, the bat was in his hand as he leapt, and the ball smacked him flush on the skin. Some of the skin peeled away, and the ball left its mark. Cameron Green is presently leaving after a few words with physio. A big-blow for Mumbai Indians, an in-form batter walking off! Surya is in the middle now!

Titans strike early!

Shami, predictably, strikes early. Nehal Wadhera lines up to pull away a 139.6kph seam-up ball on a length and directed across the left-hander and nicks off to the keeper. The ball took the outside edge before settling into the keeper’s gloves. The promotion doesn’t work for Wadhera and MI are 9/1 after 1 over. Not the start they would have wanted!

GT vs MI: A Gill-iant batting display for GT!

An breath-taking Shubman Gill century has powered Gujrat Titans to the highest totals in the play-offs! GT end with 233/3 after 20 overs. This is also GT’ s highest total in the IPL and second-highest by any team against Mumbai Indians. Shubman Gill registered the highest individual score in the play-offs and powered GT’s batting single-handedly!!

The target for Mumbai Indians is 234 runs in 120 balls. This would be tough, even for a side who is chasing 200+ totals for fun this season! They do have the firepower but GT have a intimidating bowling line-up that includes two purple cap contenders! Can MI chase this and knock GT out?.. Will be a hell of chase if that happens!

Gill departs!

And 99 runs later Tim David holds on to a catch to dismiss Shubman Gill! He dropped him when he was on 30 and now he holds on! But the damage has already been done! Gill has played a sensation innings, smashing 129 runs in 60 balls with 7 fours and 10 sixes. GT are 198/2 after 17 overs. Can they get to 240?.. cause MI have been chasing 200 for fun this season!

GT vs MI: THE SUBMAN GILL SHOW AT AHMEDABAD!

Gill is playing a blinder and MI seem to be clueless against him. He brings up his third century of the season and all three of his centuries have came in the last four innings! Shubman Gill becomes the seventh batter to score a hundred in IPL playoffs. Aged 23 years and 260 days, he’s the youngest to the milestone. He is on his way to break Buttler’s 863 run record! He also has the joint-fastest play-off hundred off 49 balls! GT are 166/1 after 15 overs.

UPDATE: Shubman Gill becomes only the second Indian batter to score 800 or more runs in an IPL season!

GT vs MI: Gill carrying GT with another fifty!

Gill’s romance with Ahmedabad continues. He didn’t have the finest batting conditions today, but he came through and put his side in a strong position. Gill has brought up yet another half-century. Now he has the onus to get the Titans to a massive score. GT will need at least 180 because they will be dealing with a wet ball as well. GT are 91/1 after 10 overs.

Chawla spins his magic again!

Piyush Chawla strikes in his first over.  Saha ran at the bowler far too soon, and Chawla cleverly flicks it down leg. Kishan collects the ball and smashes the bails. Good keeping to gather the ball while moving to his left after being blinded by the batter. The opening partnership is broken and Titans are 59/1 after 7 overs.

GT vs MI: A strong start for GT!

What a fantastic powerplay for GT. Batting conditions are difficult against the new ball, and there is some dampness in the surface as well. The ball isn’t really coming on to the bat, but Gill and Saha have put up a fifty-run stand. Shubman Gill now holds the orange cap and is most likely to win it. Gujrat Titans are 50/0 after 6 overs.

The Gujrat Titans finished at the top of the points table with 20 points in 14 games. However, they faced a defeat in Qualifier 1 at the hands of Chennai Super Kings. Due to finishing in the top 2, they get another chance to make it to the finals.

Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, finished fourth on the table with 8 wins and 6 losses in 14 games. They defeated the mighty Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator and are now one step away from the IPL finals.

What to Expect: The temperature is expected to be around 40 degrees. Both teams would seek to chase on what is likely to be a fast track with plenty of run-scoring possibilities, especially considering their strong success percentage when batting second. Dew, on the other hand, is not likely to play a significant role.
