1. Eoin Morgan: 17

The English player, Eoin Morgan, has hit 17 sixes, which is the most by a player in an inning of the ODI World Cup. This is also the most by a player in ODI Cricket history.

It was England vs Afghanistan in the 2019 ODI World Cup when he smashed the Afghani bowlers for fun. He scored a total of 148 runs in just 71 balls at a strike rate of 208.45. This inning included 21 boundaries, of which 17 were sixes and only four were fours.

2. Chris Gayle: 16

The second-most sixes hit by a player in an inning in the ODI World Cup is 16 by Chris Gayle. It was during the 2015 ODI World Cup that the West Indies player smashed his first ODI double-century.

During the West Indies vs Zimbabwe match in the 2015 ODI World Cup, Chris Gayle became the first player to score a double century in the World Cup. He scored a total of 215 runs off 147 balls, and his innings comprised a total of 26 boundaries. Out of those 26 boundaries, 16 were sixes and 10 were fours.

3. Martin Guptill: 11

Following the heroics of Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill smashed a double century in the 2015 ODI World Cup. Moreover, he scored 237 runs in just 163 balls against the West Indies in the quarterfinals. His innings included a total of 35 boundaries, of which 24 were fours and 11 were sixes.

4. David Miller: 9

A few weeks before both double centuries, David Miller ranked second on the list with nine sixes. He scored 138 runs off 92 balls against Zimbabwe in the 2015 ODI World Cup.

The Proteas batsman was in the form of his life during the 2015 ODI World, and he produced his best knocks in the mega event. He scored 138 runs against Zimbabwe and hit a total of 16 boundaries, out of which 9 were sixes and 7 were fours.

5. Ricky Ponting: 8

The fifth player on the list is the Australian batsman, Ricky Ponting, with eight sixes. This inning took place during the 2003 ODI World Cup finals, and he scored 140 runs off 121 balls against India.

His innings included a total of 12 boundaries, out of which eight were sixes. Ponting was awarded Man of the Match in the finals and also won the 2003 ODI World Cup under his captaincy.
