Kolkata Knight Riders had beaten Mumbai Indians and deprived them of their much-awaited win at IPL 2022, last night. KKR registered their third win and has escalated to the top of the Points Table. However, Mumbai Indians continue the search for their first victory. Post-match, a statement was released on the official IPL website, stating Jasprit Bumrah and Nitish Rana have been penalized following a breach of the IPL Code of Conduct.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians had put a target of 162 runs. However, skipper Rohit and the in-form Ishan Kishan couldn’t contribute a lot. Youngster Tilak, Suryakumar Yadav, and Pollard had led the team to a decent total. Mumbai managed to keep on picking wickets. MI was very much in the game till the 15th over. However, Pat Cummins had other plans. Cummins smashed 56* on just 15 deliveries. With this, he equals the record for the fastest fifty [14 balls] in IPL. For his top-notch performance, Pat received praises from both teams. Venkatesh Iyer also played an impressive knock.
Statement on Jasprit Bumrah and Nitish Rana penalty
Although an official release informed Jasprit Bumrah and Rana’s reprimand. The offenses remain undisclosed. The IPL Code of Conduct has 4 levels of breach mentioned. Both cricketers have been penalized for their match fee under Level 1 of conduct breach.
Nitish Rana from Kolkata Knight Riders has been reprimanded and filed 10 percent of his match-fee for breaching the TATA Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Mumbai Indians at Pune. Mr Rana admitted to the Level 1 offence of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.
In Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, Match Referee’s decision is final and binding. The statement added-
