IPL 2022 Playoffs and Final Venue: Eden Garden will host the Playoffs while Finals will be played in Ahmedabad: Reports

IPL 2022 is been played from 26th March and 29th May. This is after 2 years that IPL is being played in India with spectators.

IPL 2022 has been played at 4 venues in Mumbai and Pune. Reports state that BCCI has finalized IPL 2022 Playoffs venues. This year, the venues have been kept limited so that the players don’t have to travel a lot. The decision has been made keeping the Covid-19 situation in mind. Maintaining the bio-bubble integrity becomes difficult when the players have to travel from one location to other. Therefore, the league matches will be played only in Mumbai and Pune to ensure minimum travel. A total of 70 league matches will be played since there are 10 teams competing this time. The 4 stadiums are- Wankhede, Brabourne CCI, and DY Patil in Mumbai and MCA in Pune.

While the venues of the league matches were decided. Nothing concrete was decided about the IPL 2022 Playoffs. Now as the tournament advances, decisions about it are being made. If the reports are to be believed, BCCI has already decided 2 venues for the playoffs. However, no official confirmation on the same has been made. Check out what locations the BCCI has finalized.

IPL 2022 Playoffs and Final Venues:

According to the reports, 2 venues have been decided for the playoffs and the final. The first two Qualifiers are likely to take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Whereas, the 3rd Qualifier and Final are supposed to be played at Motera in Ahmedabad. Eden Gardens has always hosted some very interesting matches which keeps the fans on the edge. Ahmedabad has a big capacity.

Since the Covid-19 situations are in control, we can expect to see jam-packed stadiums in the Final of IPL 2022. After 2 years, Indian cricket fans are able to enjoy their most loved cricket league. However, a final decision on what percent of the stadium will be open for the spectators can only be made as we get near the dates.

In IPL the top 4 teams on the Points Table after the league matches qualify for the Playoffs. Two Qualifiers and an Eliminator are played to decide the two teams for the final match.

1st Qualifier– Top 2 teams compete, winning team directly enters the Final. Whereas, the losing team goes to Qualifier 2.

Eliminator- Teams ranking 3rd and 4th on the Point Table compete. The winning team goes to Qualifier 2. Whereas, the losing team ends their journey for the season.

Qualifier 2– The losing teams of qualifier 1 and Eliminator compete to play the final against the winner of Qualifier 1.
