The competition to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2022 is fierce. 5 teams are still competing for the remaining 2 berths. The tournament’s league stage matches end this Sunday. This was the usual timing for the night matches till 2017. Moreover, the BCCI is planning to move back to its old timings for IPL matches. Which is 4 PM for day matches and 8 PM for night ones.

Previously, IPL used to start with a grand opening ceremony and a closing ceremony used to be conducted before the final match. It was under a Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) regime that the opening and closing ceremonies were discontinued, 2 years back. However, this year, a decision is made to conduct the closing ceremony after an Apex Council meeting. It is to be noted that no grand opening ceremony was held to commence the IPL 2022 on March 26th. It is due to the Closing Ceremony that there’s a slight change in the timings.
