England Announce Playing XI For The First Ashes Two Day Early

England has announced their playing XI for the first Ashes two days early. England and Australia will play the first Ashes match at Edgbaston. The big news is that Stuart Broad, Ollie Robinson and James Anderson will control the pace attack. The speedster Mark Wood did not make his place in the first match. Moen Ali who retired from tests in 2021, is also included in the playing XI. As Jack Leach was ruled out of the series due to a back injury.

Earlier, Anderson and Robinson sat out the one-off test against Ireland this month. In Anderson’s absence Stuart Broad led the pace attack and took five wickets in the first innings. Broad was picked over Mark Wood by England for the first Ashes. With 17 wickets he was leading wicket taker in 2021-22 Ashes in Australia. Broad has a terrific record at home against Australia. He has taken 84 wickets in 20 Tests at an average of 26.19.

Ben Stokes Has Given Experience As First Priority!

Ben Stokes has chosen experience over speed at Edgbaston. Anderson, Robinson and Broad took a combined 147 wickets for England in the 2021-23 cycle. Moreover, Anderson and Broad have combined 1,267 test wickets. We can be see rotation of the attack throughout the remainder of the five-Test series.

Wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow has also made his place in the playing XI. He made his return from a freak golf injury against Ireland in his first test after 10 months.
